Why Journeys?

Any time someone levels up their capability, they follow largely the same process. Whether it's a musician learning a new piece, a doctor mastering a new surgical technique, or a golfer adding distance to their shots, they all develop an objective view of their capability, acquire new theoretical knowledge, and then put that knowledge into practice through a process of repetition, usually with the impactful feedback of a skilled coach or trainer. Mastering communication skills should be no different, but we have been hindered by an absence of the tools needed to give us objective data, to connect us with meaningful feedback, and enable us to practice and measure our progress.

Ovida's unique meeting recording and review process enables users to get objective data and expert feedback on their skills. But until now there was no way to track your progress over time. The Journey feature finally fills that gap!

The Journey principle

Journeys follow a simple format. Each discrete skill that a person is working on will have a Journey dedicated to it, so that person might have several concurrent active journeys.

Each Journey outlines all the steps a person should follow to master the skill in question. It enables a trainer to share knowledge, tasks and feedback with a trainee, and creates a space for the trainer and trainee to engage on the trainee's progress over time, as they conduct meetings and practice. This is distinct from the meeting review process, in which a trainer gives detailed feedback to the trainee across several skill areas in a single meeting.
